Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Santa Barbara, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Santa Barbara is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Santa Barbara follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I lived in Japan for three years so I'm quite picky. The food here is good. There are some fusion elements but the creativity part isn't bad. It's a good place to dine with a few close friends and chat.

I tried this sushi place for the first time, and I have to say the food was amazing, some of the best sushi I've had! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. It's a cute little spot on State st, and I'll definitely benefit coming back.

A coworker and I decided to come here while we were in town for work and had the best sushi we’ve had in a long time! Lots of really unique offerings available that you wouldn’t typically find at your average sushi joint, so be sure to check the specials! All of the dishes we had were fresh and delicious, but one of the dishes that truly stood out was the Tachiuo (Fatty Belt Fish), which was a recommended special that did not disappoint! The cut was tender, buttery, with a pleasantly mild sweet note. The flambΓ© sear finish really brought the flavors together. Service was attentive and friendly! Can’t wait to return.

As soon as you walk in the door you get this big stinky fish smell which the owner should know better. Next, we ended up spending $410 and barely got any sashimi. The prices are outrageous, total rip-off! We're from Los Angeles in Korea town & we know what the fish prices are like!... Remember, there was no prices on chef sashimi special plate & we asked the chef if he can give us a "Chef's Sashimi Special" with a reasonable price, we ended up with a glass bowl with some mediocre pieces of sashimi and didn't think that we're gonna be charged so much. When we saw the check, we almost fainted!....wopping $410!... For instance, 2 little round pieces of scallops were $36.....that's outrageous! We talked to the chef if he could charge a little less but he stared at us with this dirty look and said "You pay for this!" I'll never forget that face ever.... It was disgusting! We're never coming back here ever again!

The cold and eat appetizers were very tasteful. I will come back for the Hamachi collar without a doubt! After visiting Japan 2months ago, we didn’t taste the freshness and flavor of the nigiri sushi. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the atmosphere did not meet our expectation a for a Japanese dining experience. A more serene and authentic environment would greatly enhance the enjoyment of the meal.
